Judd Apatow often gets unfairly credited for rejuvenating the long dormant "R rated comedy" genre. A more befitting credit would be for reviving the rom-com genre or perhaps just sprinkling it with a dash of "crude humour" so the men in the audience wouldn't feel so ashamed of being in the same cinema. Nothing wrong with that really. The romantic-comedy genre has truly suffered at the hands of predictable writers and point-and-shoot directors. The only significant difference "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" has to offer is, as mentioned earlier "crude humour". Again, nothing wrong there. There are plenty of genuine laughs to be had though watching the same Apatow cast can get tedious.
