Bronson [2009]

Directed by: Nicolas Winding Refn
Written by: Brock Norman Brock and Nicolas Winding Refn
Starring: Tom Hardy

"Bronson" is a difficult movie to like. Charles Bronson (real name Michael Peterson) is an equally difficult character to like. At the end though it's hard not to like both. What really sells the movie is the impressive performance by Tom Hardy (A name probably only familiar to Star Trek fans) as Britain's most notorious prisoner. It's so over-the-top, at time almost campy, yet manages to etch itself into the viewers memory. Director Nicolas Winding Refn (of "Pusher" trilogy fame) does a great job in presenting Bronson's inner madness on screen with grotesque and bleak imagery.
