Pixar has not failed me yet. Even its most simple minded movies (Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life, Cars) have delivered laughs and character moments that would put many Best Picture nominees to shame. Their latest "Up" is a joy to sit through. It's even mish-mash of sentimentality and adventure will appeal to one and all. The father-son relationship in "Finding Nemo" appealed to me on a personal level as much as the comic book influenced "The Incredibles" appealed to the nerd in me and Up did such a knock-out job of appealing to the sentimental romantic side in me. My only complaint with the movie, or rather with its 3D presentation, is that it didn't really jump-out at me. There's a lot of rave amongst cinephiles that this new technology immerses viewers in environments rather than just offering cheap gimmicks but never did I feel it succeeded. So if you want to catch Up and save a few bucks catch it on regular screens.
